Timber flooring maintenance

All timber floors will show wear over time depending on the traffic and how it is cleaned and maintained. The guidelines below will help ensure your timber floor will stay looking its best for many to years to come.

How to clean your timber floor

Clean regularly

Clean regularly with a vacuum with a soft brush attachment to remove the dirt, grit and debris. More regular vacuuming and cleaning is required in the higher traffic areas

Use approved floor cleaners

Use an approved timber floor cleaner. We recommend Bona Cleaning products. Spray the approved floor cleaner on the surface as per instructions and use a microfiber flat mop over the sprayed area

Clean spills

Use Clean liquid spills immediately with a soft absorbent cloth. Remove any stains, food or liquid droppings mopping along the grain

Preventative maintenance

  • Place mats outside and inside entry doors, wipe your shoes on those mats before entering

  • Protective pads under the legs of furniture are suggested, chairs with hard castors may damage the surface wear layer of your timber floor Protect the floor from extreme weather fluctuations.

  • It is recommended to maintain ‘normal living conditions’ in the home where the relative humidity guideline is between 35% to 55% and temperature between 14 to 27 degrees Celsius
